Jay Lumbert has also been a business innovator throughout his career.
In 1982, Jay Lumbert pioneered one of the nation’s first fee-based financial planning companies. He founded a full-service broker-dealer and investment advisory company, and provided services to wealthy individuals and Fortune 500 companies.
In 1983, Jay Lumbert created the first dating service to use comprehensive personality testing and computer matching. Before selling, Jay built this company to more than one hundred employees, with offices nationwide.
In the 1990s, Jay Lumbert created a second investment firm. With this, he helped conceive and build the nation’s first open-architecture 401(k) program. His company ultimately serviced more than 1,000 corporate retirement plans, with over $1 billion in investment assets. Jay and his partners were chosen by Fidelity Investments to build and manage the Fidelity Premier 401(k) program that was distributed through National Financial Services. This former company is now part of a large financial organization listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
Jay is recognized as one of the nation’s top financial advisors, and is a managing partner with Clear Path Financial Group.
In 2008, Jay published The Alchemist Conspiracy and The Varicose Vigilantes. Both titles graced the Barnes&Noble.com and Amazon.com bestseller lists. The Varicose Vigilantes topped out at #1 on the Barnes & Noble site. Jay’s subsequent novels, The Presidential Pretender and The Varicose Vigilantes II – Hedge Money, were equally well received by readers.
In 2012, Jay published Working HR For Private Business — A Functional Reference Guide. Jay is currently writing a book on investing in turbulent times.

Born in Connecticut, Jay Lumbert is an alumnus of Williams College and Wesleyan University. He lives in the Boston area with his wife and children.
